Dear Friends of MDP,
In just a couple of days now, Gwen Edwards and I will be flying back to Kenya for the July
Medical/Dental Mission Trip. One of the days while in the Siana area, we will take a break
from the clinics and spend part of the day helping with projects at the new MDP Rescue and
Education Center. The rest of the day will be spent playing games and just being with the
children. Our target date is still on for moving the children into the new “Medacta House”
in August during their holiday break.
Another event that will take place on this mission trip is a launch of the Goat Bank Project
in the Magadi area. Ten needy widows have been identified by our Maasai MDP Lay Pastors and
Teachers in the area. The participants of the mission trip will each present a widow with 1
male and 2 female goats. This will enable them to raise their own herd and eventually become
a means to feed and educate their children.
We are very grateful to the Harvey and Manfred ND churches that have been raising funds through
their children’s departments for the new beds at the Medacta House. The beds have been ordered
and hopefully we’ll even see them delivered while there on the upcoming medical/dental mission trip.
With the expansion of our programs and inflation in Kenya, we are in great need of financial help.
The sponsorship amounts for our Secondary Children, Literacy/Adult Education Teachers and
Lay Pastors has had to be increased due to the high cost of private Christian education and
added government taxes. We pray that as you read through the updated list of "Needs" and the
sponsorship pages on our web site that the Holy Spirit will impress you how to best contribute.
