We pray that your New Year has started out well and you are in good health looking with anticipation towards a wonderful year ahead. We certainly are at Maasai Development Project. We began the new year with a big boost with $9,000 towards our tractor fund and $6,000 to build a water storage tank for our MDPEC guesthouse like the one the Wander family built for the dormitory. What a blessing that has been to us.
Our goal for the tractor mower/plow fund is $30,000, however, we will begin looking now to see if we can find a good used tractor for less than the $30,000 goal. What a boost to be 1/3rd of the way to our goal!
In speaking with one of our Pastors in Kajirijiri area, he reported that eight additional people have dedicated their lives to Jesus through baptism in the last month. We praise God for that.
I am preparing to leave for Kenya in about 10 days and will be returning on the fourth of April. This will be a bit longer trip as we need to prepare our books to turn over to the auditor in Kenya and turn in our government reports that are due in March. At the same time, we will be preparing for our largest mission trip group in March so far, a group of 41 participants coming from Upper Columbia Academy. We will be busy with two Doctors, two Dentists, and two nurses. At the same time part of the group will be putting in sidewalks at our MDP Educational Centre. We are blessed to host this group of students, faculty and professionals. We will try to keep up on reports via our MDP Facebook. Lynette will be joining me in March in preparation for the trip and then the clean up and put away. Our students who just finished high school and are waiting for their college intake, will be helping us with translation and other work during the mission trip as well. We appreciate our students being willing to give back when they are available. Please keep us in your prayers that not only will be a blessing to those we serve but that those who come to serve will be equally blessed as well.
This will be the last update letter until April. Please remember our children, lay pastors, staff and administrators as we continue forward with our work. We have faced many challenges, however, with God’s help we are moving forward. I just received word of more girl being added at our Centre. She will need a sponsor. She had run away from an upcoming forced marriage and had been hiding in the bush for several days. When she finally made it to the Centre she was tearstained, frightened, hungry and in dire need of bathing and clean clothes. While our MDPEC manager was investigating her story and situation, our dormitory staff and children helped to get her cleaned up and fed. I look forward to meeting her this month.
Would you consider being an ambassador for our children and spread the news of our need of sponsors? For our primary school children, full sponsorship is $70 per month but partial sponsors are also always welcomed. Our secondary full sponsorships are $150 per month. Again, partial sponsorships are also very much welcomed. We also encourage you to use our videos from our website to promote as well, www.4mdp.org . Thank you for your continued support, I look forward to sharing lots of updates when I get back. Blessings to each of you in the coming New Year.
Until Next Time,
Maasai Development Project
