One word describes Maasai Development Project perfectly: LIFE. Hope for life and hope in life. It is the biggest gift we wish to give. Hope to live well in an ever changing environment through education and hope to live for eternity through the love of God.
Our Lay Pastors are the very heart beat of Maasai Development Project from which all other activities flow. While the Adult Literacy/ Education Teacher empowers the people to live productive lives in their villages, they also prepare them to read God's Word for themselves. Thus the Lay Pastor continues the education so they can understand God's Word for themselves and not depend on what someone else says. Daily they meet the people in their bomas instructing them in God's Word and simple health principles.
Lay Pastors are also often called upon to help in disputes, help in rescuing an ‚at risk‚ girl and place her in a safe environment. Sometimes they are simply called upon to share their drinking water and food with somebody who is hungry. Active evangelism is always their goal. As Christ did in His ministry while on earth, they are ever touching, feeding, helping those who long for hope and directing them to the hope they have in their Heavenly Father through Jesus.
